Living DNA travelled to Canada for the first time as platinum sponsors of the Ontario Genealogy Society Conference 2017 held in Ottawa on 16-19th June.
Canada is somewhere where they have more of an understanding where their ancestors come from, being that 78% of Canadians were descended from people of European ancestry with a significant percentage having British Isles ancestry. Because of this, Canada is a prime area for us to enter due to our unique, state-of-the-art testing and our focus on being able to break down European and British Isles ancestry in finer details.
Living DNA met some people who were excited at the possibility of being able to break down some brick walls when it comes to their English, Scottish and Irish genealogical search through their DNA test, hoping to be able to potentially pinpoint exactly where their ancestors were from in these areas.
After the first day, we sold out of kits which demonstrated how well our test was perceived throughout Canada and we shipped out more so that all the other attendees could benefit from our exclusive price for our Canadian customers.
Living DNA sponsored the banquet which enabled us to connect with people all around the country, and learn what genealogists could benefit from through DNA. We have many projects lined up from our conversations with Canadian customers, stay tuned.
David Nicholson, Managing Director, hosted a number of Fast Trax talks over the course of the weekend, outlining the overall business picture of Living DNA and how we’re working to really build and contribute to the genealogy market. After these Fast Trax, we were also given the opportunity to talk with D.Josh Taylor on his experiences with DNA testing and he also started the Living DNA journey!
Overall, Canada was a great show to be part of, and we’re already looking forward to attending the OGS Conference 2018 which is held in University of Guelph. We would like to personally thank everybody who put the conference together, and Andrea Harding for all of her support in the lead up to the event. Also, we would like to give a special thanks to all over our volunteers over the course of the weekend.
