European panel update

We are excited to announce the arrival of 9 new regions to our European panels and, for the first time ever, the ability to update your ancestry results has been put into the hands of our users.

We are excited to announce the arrival of 9 new regions to our European panels and, for the first time ever, the ability to update your ancestry results has been put into the hands of our users. New and existing users are part of this exciting update and can now receive even further detail about their European ancestry.

So, what is now possible?

Rolling out today, new users and existing Living DNA users that have over 10% of European ancestry will be able to receive the panel update and visibly see this effect in their portals.

This means that:

- Any time Living DNA is able to define a new region or subregion, we can send that data directly to our users for them to trigger their update

- Any time Living DNA is able to better differentiate between regions, we can send that data directly to our users for them to trigger their update

- Users are informed automatically when a relevant update is ready for them

- Users can self-trigger updates for their kit when received and are guided through the process from trigger to complete

What regions and improvements have been added?

A total of 9 new regions have been added to our European panel, including the separation of previously grouped regions. We have also worked hard to improve our map shapes displayed in the portal so that they are displayed clearly in user results.

What happens next?

If you have greater than 10% European ancestry, you will receive an email from us notifying you about the panel update which will take you directly to your portal where you can choose to begin the update. You will also receive a notification within the portal. If you decide to initiate the update, the process can take up to 48 hours and you will be notified by us via email when the update is complete. You can access your portal during this time and a small banner will be visible in your portal that reminds you your update is in progress.

Key questions

Can I choose not to update my results?

The update is completely optional so you do not have to update your results. You will have a small notification icon in the ancestry section of your portal which will only indicate that an update is available should you choose to update at a later time.

What about my previous regions and percentages?

You will still be able to access your previous results easily within your portal after your update is complete. You can also choose to download them as a PDF document so that you can save them to your own device for reference.

Will there be any more updates?

Absolutely! The science of DNA testing is constantly evolving and our estimates evolve with it. Opt in to our Research program (under DNA Profiles in your portal) to help us define more genetic signatures around the world.

How much does this update cost?

It’s free! Wahoo!

Bring your DNA to life.
